In Modern Style
‘In Modern Style’ – for its 20th anniversary, Pacific Baroque Festival 2024 provides another series of musical events dedicated to the wealth of music beyond mainstream classics. Explore the music of 17th century Italy, a time and place considered to be the cradle of baroque music, referred to as 'Stile Moderno'. Enlighten yourself through the discovery of beautiful and exciting works enhanced with historically-informed performances on baroque violins, sackbuts, a baroque harp, viola da gamba, baroque cello and a variety of baroque keyboard instruments.
Each of the Festival’s six events will evoke its own musical pleasures, an experience that may be augmented the more events you enjoy. Consider the advantages of the Festival Pass – a four concert bargain provides a window of insight to a broad range of Italian baroque composers, such as the iconic Claudio Monteverdi, Arcangelo Corelli, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Tarqunio Merula, Tomaso Albinoni, to name but a few whose musical works will be on offer.
Tickets are on sale now for concerts running from Tuesday, February 27 to Saturday, March 2. Please also join us at the Festival's Choral Evensong service on Sunday, March 3 - a free-offering event.
Did you know? Le Nuove Musiche (‘The New Musics’) by the Florentine composer Giulio Caccini is one of earliest and most significant collections of music written in a baroque style (1601)?
